A report was released last week from The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University called The Texas Luxury Home Sales. It provides statistics on luxury home sales for 2014 for the months January-October. The report defines luxury as homes sold for over $1 million.

Houston the state's largest metropolitan area has a greater number of luxury homes and luxury home sales. San Antonio, on the other hand, is the region with the smallest number of luxury homes and the smallest percentage of luxury homes as a percentage of homes available for sale.
But the good news for Buyers is, it does not take $1 million to buy a luxury home in th San Antonio area. Some homes that sell for amounts of $1M and more can be obtained in the San Antonio area for less. Make no mistake there are no freebies here, so don't take that to mean luxury homes are being given away here. But the cost of living, materials, labor are more favorable in this area than in many other parts of the nation.
