Holy Termites!...in Glenwood, IA Home Inspection

By
Home Inspector with Foundation-2-Rooftop, Inc.

Imagine my surprise when I opened up the main disconnect panel on the utility pole to find it packed with termite tubes!  Luckily, I didn't find any damage in the home.

In the Omaha area, it's not a matter of if you get termites, it's a matter of when.  Walk around the exterior of your home looking for mud tubes, then inside focusing in your basement or crawlspace foundation walls and wood posts.  Termites need darkness, moisture, and a food source (aka-wood, drywall paper, paneling, etc.) to survive.  Around here, they start at the ground and work their way up.  In other parts of the country, they can fly too.  So, in that aspect, we're lucky.

Greg Wayman Termites are definitely a worldwide scourge. Here in California, it's more dry wood termites rather than subterraneans, but we do have both. Good post!
