Lake Tarpon and John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor Florida was where we took the boat this morning. We launched the boat at Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs and then crossed the lake to John Chesnut Park.
Years ago, before there were boat ramps at Anderson Park & John Chesnut Park, people used an old (now non-existant) boat ramp that was next to East Lake Road. The natural canal led into Lake Tarpon and today Ronnie wanted to show me that canal.
Since he grew up in Clearwater (I grew up in South Tampa), he remembers using the old boat ramp. The canal to where the ramp used to be is a bit of Florida at it's best: in it's natural state!
As we slowly went up stream, we enjoyed the peace and quiet surrounding us. We passed part of the hiking trail and trail benches in John Chesnut Park on the north side of the canal.
