Zero Tolerance

The Montgomery County Police Department will be initiating a zero tolerance enforcement campaign focusing on pedestrian violations within the county. The district’s main focus will be in the area of the transit station located at Lakeforest Mall.

There will be other selected locations as well but the main focus at this time is the transit center.  The County Police has placed a VMS board advising both drivers and pedestrians to slow down and be cautious.

Violations officers will be looking for could be:

Talking/texting on the cellphone

Not coming to a complete stop at the stop light or stop line

Stopping within the crosswalk causing pedestrians to go around your vehicle

Failing to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk

Failing to cross in a crosswalk when they are provided

Failing to yield right of way to oncoming vehicles

Crossing against the signal

Walk with Caution, Drive with Care!

Hi Roy.  Not paying attention while walking or driving is just asking to have an accident.

Oh oh, drivers and pedestrians better behave when in or around the Lakeforest Mall or they'll be sorry.

Good morning Roy and Dolores.

Good for the the Montgomery County Police Department in announcing they are taking to a zero tolerance for law breakers.  Just go by the rules and you have nothing to worry about.

Roy, did not know drivers were not able to talk on the phone while driving.   We still can, but no texting!

Good morning, Roy -- sometimes just the presence of a police patrol car or motorcycle can be enough for people "to do the right thing".   Of course, a bit of city revenue enhancement through a pricey ticket can be a real incentive.

Good morning Roy, Happy Friday. It sounds like the local po-po are cracking down on things to help keep motorists and pedestrians safe.  Our laws also prohibit cell phone use - except for an earpiece, while driving.  Have a great Friday.

People really do need to stop the texting while driving. I will admit I was bad at it, but have since stopped the practice. It is just so unsafe and nothing is that important that it can't wait until you arrive at your destination.

Good public service information!

It is sometimes a good practice to revisit old blogs and reblogs. We might even find some good ideas for current posts.
