The Smith Mountain Lake community gets pretty creative when it comes to raising funds for local charities. On Saturday residents met on the lake’s shoreline at Bernard’s Landing to participate in the second annual Glacier Plunge, which raised $2,000 for the Franklin County YMCA.
Local swimmers like Deb Beran Properties Founder and top REALTOR Deb Beran took a teeth-chattering dip in the 36-degree water along with about twenty other brave attendees who raced to a “glacier” for prizes that included gift cards to local retailers. Afterward, the party thawed out at a celebration hosted by Bernard’s Landing’s The Landing restaurant.
