Do You Remember When?

By

As a young person, our family would watch TV on Saturday and Sunday evenings....Mama would pop ..popcorn and we would sit around and watch the Ed Sullivan Show.  We would see the new performers enter into the entertainment arena.

I remember seeing Stevie Wonder doing the finger poppin thing and also the Jackson 5.  Elvis with his gyrating hips..and of course the BEATLES!

Shirley Temple was my favorite.  I would watch "The Good Ship Lolipop" and dance along with her.  Then there was that "Masked Man on the White horse"....and then the Ape Man that swung from the vines...

We would play outside till dark and come in when Mama would call out "Dinner's Ready" "Come in and wash up".

I miss those Happy, Carefree Days of youth.

If you have Memories that you would like to share, please do!!

Hi Ginger- I remember them too. I remember Saturday morning cartoons and westerns and loved Ed Sullivan.  Oh, my favorite was Captain Kangeroo.

I have a ton of them.  And Ed Sullivan being one of my favorites too!  That was ENTERTAINMENT.  TV was fun back then, family was consistent and we set the table each night with a table cloth and placed the plates, forks, knives and spoons.  We didn't eat our food out of a paper bag purchased through a drive-thru window!

Fun memories, Ginger. Our family didn't have a television, but Friday nights (with popcorn) at a neighbor's watching The Wonderful World of Disney was great, and afternoons at another neighbor's house, watching the Mickey Mouse Club - how many of us learned to spell encyclopedia from that show??

Shirley Temple was a fond memory and I Love Lucy. I also like the Twilight Zone for some thrills.

Ginger - I really enjoyed my childhood, playing with friends until dark, and being close enough to home to hear your mother call you for dinner. We did a lot of bike riding and exploring. I remember my Saturdays as a teenager would be sitting in front of the TV with family watching Fantasy Island and The Love Boat.

Me too, Ginger. I miss those days! I remember watching the Mickey Mouse Club show every day after school in the 1950's. Loved it!

Ginger, those were the days, and remember popping popcorn in the brown bag and going to the drive-in with the family.  Such good times!

I think that life was gentler then.  It seems harsh now with all that is going on in the world..
