I have a fairly new computer, 12 months an 1 week, and it stopped working this week. Will not charge and will not open so it had to be sent out for repairs after we paid $83 for a new adapter since the tech was sure that was what was wrong.

Now, after waiting 2 days for an appointment they now cannot do anything and had to send it in as they have no idea what is wrong with it. They said that they would call me in 4 days if they know anything. I thought these techs could at least diagnose a problem!

Looks like I made two mistakes here! First one is I should not have bought an Apple computer and second mistake was trusting it to be efficient so I did not have my data backed up. 'Big Mistake' so  here I am typing on my iPad which is limited as I have no word program and cannot get to my saved documents. 

I am really not writing to badmouth APPLE but to remind everyone to backup your computer. I am going to do that when I get it back, if I get it back. 

 

 

BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER DATA......yes I am yelling so everyone will react.

500 gigs is now about $50 remarkably, so none of us has an excuse as to why their stuff isn't backed up.

Yes Kristin I use "Box"which is a cloud program that is so easy to use. Besides the backup of a PC, IPad, 2 Laptops and Cell Phones I often take pictures with my Blackberry Q10 which has an excellent camera and then go to the computer and fire up Box and get the photos downloaded to my PC and use them on a blog.

I also have a network at the house and have a NAS device (Network Attached Storage) which is nothing more but a box full of hard drives. It appears as a drive letter on any device used at home and it also has a copy of all docs, photos, PDF's and anything else there is.

I truly love Box or any cloud storage and suggest everyone use some kind of program like this.

Kristin - That is a good message that everyone should follow. I just lost a post I was just ready to send out today right here in AR because I did not save it. I worked all day on it, so although I didn't lose my entire computer like you, I did lose an entire days worth of work. Back up everything that has to do with computers!

I will check into this. I have been worried about the cloud since some celebrities were hacked. Not that I would be putting anything but real estate files, documents and all my nature and vacation pictures so nothing too exciting for hackers. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Troy,

I lost a post several days ago and it was frustrating. I usually hit save every few minutes but it was when I hit button 'Publish' that it disappeared. I tend to copy text now and of course you have to load pictures again but they are already in the AR site so it is quick. I used to type on Word and then copy and paste so that is always an option. Sorry about your post.

Hi Bob,

I used to keep my Quicken on the desktop and never backed it up. When my HP computer crashed, I lost everything on the Desktop which was primarily my Quicken as all photos and documents were filed away. Learned my lesson but looks like I did not follow through and now I am waiting to hear from the techy guys.
