Everything is Possible!

Living here in Sacramento allows an occasional visit to Yosemite National Park - about 140 miles away.  While walking the trails along Yosemite’s Valley Floor, I certainly never looked up and imagined free-climbing the 3000 foot sheer granite walls of El Capitan.

There are giants among mankind, and those giants sometimes demonstrate things once thought impossible are indeed possible.

Congratulations to Kevin Jorgeson and Tommy Caldwell who are first to scale El Capitan’s Dawn Wall, with only their feet and hands, and put their names in a lofty place of history.

Climbing to get up above where the air is rare. My family does a lot of it when lucky to live where we do and no crowds, more outdoors happens within easy reach.

HI Myrl - that is incredible and so impressed they achieved this impressive challenge. It has been some time since I have been to Yosemite, such a beautiful area. Definitely one of nature's treasures.

Myrl,

I just stopped by to say hello and hope you are having a good January! When I think of the climbers my hat is off to them as there is no way I could do that!

Having seen El Capitan in person, this makes their journey even more special.  Television cameras and photos really can't capture the immensity of that climb.  Congratulations to both of them!

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat,

I loved following their exciting but dangerous excursion and thought it was wonderful when the one climber waited for his buddy after he fell several times. They made it to the top together and safe.  I think we were all cheering for them. It was an amazing feat.

I saw the news story about their remarkable climbing feat, and I wouldn't risk it. Although I used to do a bit of rock climbing, I always climbed tethered. I have a lot of respect for these guys - and am so happy they are safe.

Wasn't this such an amazing event Myrl Jeffcoat ! I listened to an indepth interview on NPR about it and even though it was radio I got goose bumps and almost vertigo just listening to it. Talk about blowing up the box of everyday possibility and totally going for it!

I've never been to Yosemite National Park.

This year, I'll make sure I'll visit at.

Your picture is beautiful as always.
