2016 All Star Game to be Held at Petco Park
It was announced this morning that Petco Park in Downtown San Diego will host the 2016 Baseball All Star Game.
Petco Park is now 12 years old and it is more than a little amazing that it has not had this honor already in this exquisite ballpark. The ballpark and the "park in the park" is really quite beautiful.
With the passing last year of one San Diego's and Baseball greats, Tony Gwynn, it is sort of sad that he won't be around to see this game. His statue adorns the top of the park in the park and it will overlook this game scheduled for July 16th, 2016. He will be there in spirit.
San Diego is more than ready to host this game. There will be lots of associated events and activities over the 5 days festivities. San Diego like it's day when it hosted the Superbowl, will get the city spit shined and ready to show off once again, America's Finest City.
The world will get another chance to look inside this city and see first hand why it loved and beloved by the people that call it home.
Congratulations to the City of San Diego, a well deserved honor.
