A new amusement park is coming to Texas City! Adventure Pointe Amusement Park will be located just off I-45 South in Texas City right next to the Outlet Mall.
This 25 acre amusement park park was supposed to break ground in 2014 with an open date sometime in 2015. I'm not sure if they are still holding to that timeline, but I'll keep you updated. You can follow the progress on their Facebook page for a more current status.
This amusement park will be designed to have modern rides and amenities with a retro feel. Dr. Harvey Slusky, a local cardiologist, came up with this vision. He is the son of Louis Slusky who owned two popular amusement parks (Playland Houston and Playland Galveston) in the 1940's. Dr. Harvey Slusky would like to continue the family tradition of bringing unique entertainment to the Houston area!
His vision includes offering nightly entertainment and fireworks in a central area as well as including games and rides with a local fell. Adventure Pointe is to include a Pirate Village with a nod to Jeanne Lafitte and a Speedway area reminiscent of the Speedway that was a popular part of Playland.
