Now that the AFC and NFC championships have ended with the Seahawks and Patriots coming out victorious, Phoenix metro area turns its focus on to the big game! This will be the 2nd time that Arizona has hosted the Super Bowl in Glendale. With 12 days until the big day all attention is on Arizona for this spectacular event.
For those coming to the area there is so much to do! For starters there is the Waste Management Open that is a one of a kind golf tournament with hundreds of thousands of spectators. For more details see my previous blog on the open.
Every Super Bowl has lot of activities for the avid fan and visitor. The Verizon Super Bowl Central will be located in downtown Phoenix and free for everyone. Activities are bountiful for the entire family. Kids can participate in fan interactions of all sorts from virtual activities to physical activities like creating their own Bridgestone Performance Moment. Other activities will include autograph booths, beer gardens, city tours, live entertainment, and broadcast areas where you can re-create your favorite broadcasting sport moments!
Downtown Phoenix will be filled with thousands of visitors so be sure to have a good travel plan in place and know which area will be closed off to pulic parking. Light rails will also be a great source of travel into the downtown area. Times and services will be extended for both bussing and light rails during Super Bowl week so be sure to check the schedules out at valleymetro.org/superbowl.
The schedule for Verizon Super Bowl Central:
Wednesday 28th- Friday 30th- 2pm-10pm
Saturday 10am-10pm
Super Bowl Sundy- 10am-3pm
In addition to the Verizon Super Bowl Central will be the popular NFL Fan Experience located at the Phoenix Convention Center. This is where fans can run 40 yard dashes, test your throwing, kicking, agility skills, try out your hand at virtual games, and get your picture taken with the Lombardi Trophy! The NFL Fan Experience will also feature youth camps, obstacle courses, and many more activities fun for all ages! Tickets will run you $35 for an adult and $20 for kids under 12 for 1 day passes. Family packs are also available from a pack of 4 for $95 to a pack of 6 for $120, with savings up to $30.
The NFL experience runs from January 27th thru February 1st.
