Merrill Winterfest Sled Dog Race January 24-25, 2015
So many great things to love about Winter in the Northwoods and some of the best are those that we can enjoy with our dogs.
This weekend some dog lovers will be celebrating in a big way near Merrill Wisconsin when the Wisconsin Trailblazers Sled Dog Club hosts the Merrill Winterfest Sled Dog Races.
There will be many categories and something for everyone with 4, 6, and 10 dog sled races along with 1 and 2 dog Skijoring races.
My Sons Josh and Nick plan to attend with me, however Jack along with all other dogs who are not participating in the races will have to stay home as they can be too distracting to the dogs who are there to participating in the races.
The event will be held at the Pine River Elementary School, Merrill, WI, and after a full day of watching the fun on Saturday you can go for an all you care to eat Spaghetti feed at club 64.
for more information check out their facebook and web pages at

Winter in Wisconsin!!! Whats not to celebrate about winter, feel that hard crunchy ground below your boots, that cool brisk air nipping at your nose as the bright winter sun shines on you warming your spirit. My friends in the southern states have no idea what they are missing with all of the wonderful sensations and experiences that we are treated to every Winter. We get to feel the extremes of hot and cold, light and dark, wet and dry, and when you embrace the experiences they can make it worth it to endure the hot muggy summers filled with mosquitoes. Not only do we get to walk on water during this special time of year, but we get to work and play on our many waterways. With so many activities available like driving out to go fishing on our many lakes, skiing, skating, snowshoeing, hockey, broom-ball, snowmobiling, skiijoring, dog sledding, tubing, tobogganing, camping, snow and ice sculpting and so many more activities. February 14 and 15th the city of Madison Wisconsin is hosting a super sized Winter Fest that should not be missed with many of the above activites and a few more.
