In The Begining There Were Real Estate Blogs, It Was Good.

Early real estate blogging, fewer numbers doing it, less hunt and peck production.

Like much in marketing property listings and the local communities they populate, many take a wait and see approach. Too many still do with video for real estate, the most misunderstood child in the marketing family.maine flowers bee photo

Blogging evolved in part because of distrust from the news media in general.

The days of black and white Walter Cronkite removing the dark rim reading glasses.

Telling us that's the way it is today and dissolved, faded away at the end of the day.

John and Jane Q Public kicked it up a notch in the rebellious, turbulent 1960's buzz. Some saying heck no, we won't go. Enough. Questioning authority, Big Brother, Uncle Sam. Not just believing everything in the newsprint, broadcast over the air picked up by the rabbit ears.

I have always thought the guy, gal on the street was the most credible.

I trust them most. Real world. Like a jury of your peers if you have ever been a jury foreman, there is so much wisdom when collected from all walks of life. Combining all those experiences. Stirring the pot of values, beliefs. And striving to hammer out a fair and just decision collectively.

But like gaming the system, the low budget reality programming took on the slick, spun polish of buzz words and catchy clever sound bites. Making you trust, laugh, think these are the regular boys and girls from right next door.

Down home genuine when scripted but made to look like spontaneous. Raw, real and genuine.houlton maine downtown photo

Can you even wonder where the seed of distrust and what's in it for you germinated?

Festered because of new ways to manipulate to get what the other wanted.

Whether to sway your vote on an important topic or candidate with the most money to lay down for the spot rotation clusters and full page ads.

Or social media merry go around chiseled into a cartoon over simplification to dumb it down. Make it easier to swallow hook, line and sinker. As nothing but the Gospel truth so help me God. Amen.

Or to convince how this product will improve your life, turn back the years, help you jump taller buildings easier. So order before midnight tonight. But wait, the first one hundred callers that do...well you know. You get a set of super sharp knives and a bamboo cooking steamer you can not live without if you are quick like a bunny. A Johnny on the spot drop everything to "git 'r dunnnn.".

People are beaucoup busy.

Many are scared, lost, indecisive, chasing something to fix that uneasy insecure feeling. Lots are not happy. Some are plain rude and pushy. Love them all, serve them all like it was a Hard Rock Cafe they entered that you manage in your home town. And oh yeah. We all know real estate listing, selling is highly emotional. Because it involves people, their life is at stake in these all important decisions.

Job transfers and promotions making moves happen. Sell there, buy halfway across town or the herd of maine cows photocountry.

Happy, head over heels in love,  knot tied newlyweds.

Purchasing a cape. Or buyers that are elderly with parts wearing out. Couples downsizing, needing a single level. Purchasing a one floor ranch please.

Or waterfront recreational, farm spread property.

Maybe in the camp wanting investment commercial real estate  listings to sort through.

And the darker side of the real estate planet.

Divorce, bankruptcy and some disease, addiction forcing sales of property listings the owners are not to happy to watch ripped away. Helplessly demanded to pass back the keys and flee.

So real estate blogging, the posts daily cover the gamut with what the writer thinks the audience needs help with out in the wild blue yonder. Blog posts served up hot and ready informational.

Delivered at all hours of the day or night (ding dong) to whatever device the blog post follower drives. Surfed in on to connect with best here and now. No matter where they are roaming the planet.real estate delivery van photo

I remember writing several blogs at 186 miles per hour .

Don't just think of the guy or gal on desktop, the one with hand held mobile.

Or stretched back, feet up with a cat in the lap.

Who travels in and out of several open house on demand real estate video showings of property listings.

Like the cat, purring at what tickles his or her fancy.

Beside the portable open glowing screen bathing his or her face in eerie light. Who at the same time watches the big game or Law and Order (duh duh chord), whatever series special of the night routine.

On the 60 inch wall mount display while surfing. Our busiest time of the real estate day the logs show is 10:30 at night. When folks say whew. Done. Let's stop, drop, shop til the Sandman lowers the lids.

jeep in maine photoYour office never closes, is online not so much a fixed position beehive.

We deliver to the buyers, sellers, not make them have to trot in like Cave Man Realty days.

Bloggers, regularly feeding, weeding, watering their blogging channel garden of knowledge.

That is so important for the communication reach, frequency, impressions today.

To expand the audience to beyond just the shallow kiddy with the water wings end of the local pool.

On a round robin rotation of the meat and potato basics.  Financing a home. Mistakes sellers make in real estate sales. Or something for the fellow agents, brokers in the audience to share. To beef up their marketing real estate listings. To improve their ever changig high stakes game wearing the blue and gold hard working "R".

Make sure to develop your voice online but also never to forget what it is like out in the audience.

To see the members of it, all of them individually. Not just the ones pretty much like you carbon copy. But those with other likes, dislikes, preferences. That will tap into your signal for engagement if you cater, deliver to their wants and desires. Return to pair up for the property listing dosey doe once you catch their attention. Keep the interest going to lead to finally easing up. And to make it a little less talk and a lot more action. So you win more round trip first class tickets to real estate closings.

The blogging real estate news connection that you better be broadcasting round the clock. To it keep loud and clear, never over and out constant in anything real estate related.

Nicole .. Only if the agent, broker posts it all, let's it hang out on line like a buffet always hot and ready for when the buyer is. Not on the agent, broker's limited hours. Blow it open, make it you may doze but never close. Saving time, money, gas and frustration is like a friend, not a robot. But make it NASCAR quick.

Pamela ... Don't neglect your community information channel which out of state buyers need first before moving on to the what's for sale.

Roy ... Don't talk over them, sit down and make it up close and personal. You see the person you are blogging to, shooting video for and they realize you "see" them in the audience.

Margaret ... They like the take me to your local event videos like a farmer's market. The local blog posts on FAQ.

you got a lot of stuff in this blog....  But I love that people can potentially "connect" with me as their agent in the middle of the night without waking me up. LOL    And the trust thing... I'm so weird about that.  I literally do and always have trusted anyone unless they give me cause not to.  yes of course I've been burned a few times because of it, but I refuse to let the seeds of doubt and mistrust rule my being.

David ... Yes learn to edit and no looping photos together, the same ones you already exposed the busy buyer to is not a video. The audio is 40% of the real estate video experience. Real full motion real estate video is not a slide show with dead air or just music filler. Sounds from the property captured transport your out of town, state, country or local buyer late at night to the property.

Tammy ... Cloned, you are with video. Like hundreds of open houses, not one. The 1.2 million views prove buyers want real estate video.

Joan ... Video, it does a real estate operation good. Learning curve going in, but saves time in the long run and it is what buyers expect. Will get from you or someone that recognizes the needs and shoots, edits, renders, uploads video.

Gabe ...Chasing the dollar. It happens, makes the World go around.

Introduce the new, never been to your area and locals too with video interviews. The people are the community, not just a bunch of empty houses.

Working all the media streams is like every blogger owns a newspaper, radio, tv, Internet cafe station! Your business is online, you may doze but never close.

Andrew

There is a ton of information and wisdom in your post. Blogging, and video, presents an incredibly powerful way to provide information, engage with consumers, encourage trust and do business. It's been interesting to see how it has changed since blogging really became popular around the time AR started.

Jeff ... We have not limit to the boundaries of the real estate market pool size. No longer local, just instate. So everything online, not making the long trip necessary to get the information is critical for engagement, the strong grip connection.

Bingo, Andy. I enjoyed reading through your post and the comments. This comment you made (below) really hits home and sums up the importance of VIDEO - not slideshows!

You want real coffee, fresh and ground just before the breakfast starts... not instant. Not warm water with a brown crayon dipped in it called coffee. Slide shows of the same images the buyer has already seen and no extra supporting sound. make the exercise fruitless.
