Rules are not made to be broken, and the Active Rain Community Guidelines set this platform apart from many others. I have long been a proponent of free speech, but free speech is not the same as politically correct speech. In fact, our country's founding fathers were actually revolutionaries who demanded that personal freedom be added to the constitution, via amendment, as a condition of ratifying the document. Freedom of speech is right there in the very first amendment. The AR version of freedom of speech is articulated in the Community Guidelines:
We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech, which contains slurs, or the use of stereotypes intended to attack or demean a particular gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or nationality.
