Cedar Park is ready for growth in 2015! For a city that has already grown by more than 400% in a decade it is hard to envision even more growth. With the city's proximity to Austin, excellent schools and easy freeway access... growth is inevitable. Did you know that Movoto named Cedar Park as the fifth most desirable suburb in the country? Not just in Texas... in the country!

So what type of growth is Cedar Park looking at in 2015? How about new restaurants and more retail to start. The City Council has approved rezoning of several development sites to incorporate their vision of mixed use; offices, housing and restaurant space. On the 28th I will be attending a city meeting discussing plans to recreate Bell Road.  In addition, many plans are beginning to unfold for the Parmer Lane development in 2017. Just north of Town Center, a new planned development site is beginning to unfold, with over 42 acres of office space and retail. If you'd like to take a look at the city's blue print for the next 20 years, check out their comprehensive plan. The overall vision embraces a city we can all be proud of and call home.

For 2015, here are the highlights of things coming to Cedar Park.

  • Town Center will continue to grow. Planning has begun for a Staybridge Suites by Marriott, with ground breaking hopeful for the end of the year.

  •  Town Center will be opening a Lupe Tortilla and PDQ. Possibly a nail salon and Supercuts.

  • Starwood Oaks center will be opening this summer. Anchored by a Denver Mattress, they are planning a Five Guys Burgers & Masala Wok.

  • Panera Bread will be opening just south of 1890 Ranch in March.

  • Medical facilities, including a memory care assisted living center, will be coming near the Toll 183A and Medical Parkway.

  • Dana Holding Corp's new facility at Scottsdale Crossing is complete and soon to join them will be a lithium ion batter manufacturer, Voltabox. Both facilities bring engineering jobs to Cedar Park.

As a land locked city, Cedar Park must be very thoughtful with the use of land. We are beginning to see many fill in projects for home building, as very little land is left for larger subdivisions. What we will see are small communities and primarily townhome or loft style living. A great example of these fill in communities are the Milestone homes on Brushy Creek, and now Scott Felder is pre-selling lots in the small, gated community, of Arbrantes. The city has identified a need for more executive style housing within the city, but at this time no sites are announced.

Redevelopment will be the big idea in Cedar Park's future. From the quarry on Anderson Mill Road to acreage available near the Cedar Park Center, these will be key areas to watch in the future of Cedar Park. With a city hoping to build an entertainment district, worthy of date nights, I can't vision many other locations available.

If you, or someone you know, is looking to move to our beautiful city, have them give me a call.  I live, play, and work in Cedar Park and would love to show them why so many homeowners have chosen this great city as their new home. The growth experienced has been phenomenal and the pride exponential. If you are looking for an affordable alternative to Austin, with easy commutes and excellent schools, Cedar Park should be top on your list. Cedar Park is ready for growth!
