What is the Neighborhood Like?
Living in a park setting is different than living anywhere else. Rarely does the drive by give one the true essence of the community. Most folks consider the road side of the home the least important side so most homes look best from the water. Public access is available at several areas around the lake, the most popular being at the north end between the dam and the spillway. Here there is a public shelter, public dock, public boat ramp and parking area. Below the dam is Gardner Lake Park which is maintained by the Gardner, KS Parks and Recreation Department. Gardner Lake has a 10 mph speed limit and is a "no wake" lake. Canoes, kayaks, pontoons and fishing boats can be found enjoying the serenenity of the community. Gardner Lake has no official Home Owners Association. The Gardner Lake Association is a voluntary organization made up of owners and residents.

For those who enjoy the faster water sports, Hillsdale Lake is within a short drive to the south. The short drive to 119th Street, or closer still, The Great Mall, provide shopping centers, movies, and other entertainment. The local coffee shop, Groundhouse Coffee Shop features great coffee as well as entertainment. Close by attractions include several parks, museums, 2 golf courses and the New Century Fieldhouse. Also close by are 2 airports -- New Century and Gardner Airport - which sponsor "fly ins" several times a year.
