I firmly believe that this should become the norm. Investing in peace of mind, knowledge and a simple educational seminar in home 101. The storm coming up the east coast ready to hammer NYC, CT. and Boston has the signs of the 2013 storm written all over it...

Have you all prepared your homes since the last storm???

Using your original inspection report (if you've kept it) is a great place to start when it comes to doing a maintenance checkup. Good inspectors will present suggestive maintenaince items right in the report, or they will provide you with educational materials to help drive you in the right direction. Our inspection services provide all of the above... If you've been in your home for a number of years and have yet to make any changes (greater than 5 years), hiring an inspector to go through your home again, from top to bottom is smart money invested.

I had a client who hired me for a roofing problem and after legthy discussions on the phone, I convinced her to have me inspect the entire home. Without getting into too many details, the lack of maintenance over a 40 year period had taken a serious toll on her home. Needless to say, the roofing problem was just one piece of the equation that needed immediate attention.

The more you can learn in advance, the better prepared you will be for the future. Knowledge is power in making sure you have the greatest amount of information to make the best decisions for your greatest investment. The learning process should never stop. Once you move in to your home, school is in session; everyday - 24/7.
