There is a feeling among sellers especially in the North East that listing your home for sale in the Winter is not a good idea. Perhaps listing in the middle of December is not great but come the middle of January there are a lot of bonus's for Winter marketing.
First of all only very very motivated consumers are house shopping in the cold. They are out there looking because they have to be. As a seller these would be the buyers you want to capture.
The Spring market actually starts the beginning of February and February is a short month so waiting for March might leave you watching the ship sale.
Another plus that most people miss is that snow can hide a multitude of sins. Even a somewhat plain house looks pretty in the snow and we all know how important curb appeal is. Just remember to keep you walks shoveled and de-iced.
This home just hit the market and the snow provides a lovely frame.
