- How can I search for Homes on the hill in New Braunfels?
Basically, there are two main areas that people are referring to when they say "On the hill." As you travel northwest of IH35 through central New Braunfels the landscape of our town goes from relatively flat rolling prairie land to a big shelf that turns into the hill country, otherwise known as the Balcones Fault. There are two general areas that can be classified as neighborhoods and I have described them here to help with your search. These areas are both highly sought after by home buyers for their classic New Braunfels neighborhood feel, their amazing central location, and lets be honest...its just cool to live on the hill.
On the Hill
Typically when someone says a New Braunfels house on the hill, they are referring to the area located to the left of Walnut Avenue as you head northwest to Loop 337, which is also the western border for the neighborhood down to Landa St. There are some amazing views in this area that peek in and around an eclectic mix of architecture. Most of the homes in this area are older, typically built between 1950- 1970's, however, there are still a few small subdivisions where you can build a new home. Subdivisions located in this area include:
- Mission Hills
- Mission Oaks
- Forest Park
- Laurel Heights
- Mission Oaks
- Landa Woods
- Mission Forest
- Gardens of Mission Forest
On the Hill Above Landa Park
Finding this area is easy, just head to Landa Park and turn in on Landa Park Dr. Continue all the way in to the back of the park and the road quickly begins to turn into a steep rocky hill and for a moment you think, where am I? You reach the top and you look in the rear view mirror and see one of the prettiest panoramic views in New Braunfels. You've made it to the neighborhood commonly referred to as the hill above Landa Park. Its a beautiful, classic New Braunfels neighborhood that has big wide streets, beautiful yards that house the friendliest deer in Texas and mix of home architecture that will keep you driving around looking. Most of the homes are older in this area but there is new section of Oakwood Estates that is in the construction stage so if you act quickly, you can still build on the hill above Landa! Subdivisions located in this area include:
- Landa Park Highland
- Oakwood Acres
- Oakwood Estates
- Tanglewood Forest
- Tuscan Ridge Condos
- Grandview
- Oak Ridge
- Oak Ridge Estates
- Woodland Hts
