San Diego
Tall Ship Festival and Parade
I think this is one of the most exciting events in San Diego all year. This festival is an event lasting 4 days over the Labor Day weekend.
There is so much to see and do and exciting for everyone in the family. You can board the ships and tour them all day. Rides are avilable for the ship's cannon battles just like in times long ago times.
The San Diego Maritime Museum is host and they pull out all the stops to make sure you have the time of your lives. The parade is awesome as the tall ships are in full sail as they single file parade into the Bay area where they will be moored so that visitors can board. Their staging area early in the morning before the parade is on the west side of North Island. The parade comes down along harbour drive and out to the Coronado Bridge where the ships make a turn and come back into the Bay.
The photo opportunities are plentiful and take plenty of sunscreen.
The Canon Battles between the Tall Ships and shore take place every day of the festival and several times during the day. Great for the kids.

Come and Meet Costumed Personalities that will take you back in time to when Pirartes ruled the sea. Did someone say Pirates?

This gent was one of several pirates that greeted visitors to the Festival. He was nicely posed for this photo.
