A lot of real estate professionals, and people in the industry like mortgage brokers, do a deep focus on their local area.
This can be a great way to get more qualified leads, especially when you are seen as THE local expert in your region.
But, many don't because they feel like it's just too time consuming. The good news is it doesn't have to be that way.
Because of syndication.
Here's how it can work.
Reach out to a few of your local newspapers, blogs, even social media sites. Ask if you can become the local real estate expert, writing a weekly (or bi-weekly or monthly) article for their site.
Now, instead of writing multiple articles, which is a huge time suck and a drag, write one article. This will go to whatever site or newspaper that is featuring you as their real estate website.
Then, you can use this information on your own blog but with one very important caveat.
You shouldn't just copy and paste it. In that case, you're own blog is going to get hurt by the web search engines, which sort of defeats the purpose of having you be found online for your local area anyway.
Instead, write a quick introduction to the link, just a couple of sentences, and then post the link in the blog and ask people to click the link to read.
This does a couple of good things.
First, it now broadcasts your information to multiple sets of people. It's always good to have more exposure, chances are you'll be able to reach new potential clients this way.
Second, it reduces the amount you actually have to write! You can also do this for any podcast, online hangout, radio or even television spot you're on.
Third, it actually helps the search engines rank your site higher. While sites like Google hate duplicate content, they love backlinks from other sites.
So, it can pay to take a little bit of time and reach out to some of your local community sites. Become the authority and real estate (mortgage, home inspection, etc.) expert in your area and you're going to see more business.
