The Orange County Fair

Orange County Fair

Each year, the fair comes to Orange County for a month from July to August.  The fair has been in Orange County for 125 years.  It has been in Costa Mesa since 1949, 4 years before the City of Costa Mesa was even incorporated.

Annual attendance at the fair has been over a million for the past several years.

In May of 2009 and for some time after, there was discussion of selling the Orange County Fairgrounds.  At this time, it appears that there are no plans to sell the Fairgrounds.

The Orange County Fair offers so many fun things to see and do, that my family and I typically go several times during the month.  In addition to the typical fair food, there are rides, a petting zoo, elephants to ride, woodworking showing amazing works of art, pie eating contests, pony rides, concerts and so much more.

If you plan to visit the Fair a few times during the year, they typically have a Super Pass that allows unlimited visits.  In addition, if you are looking for ways to visit the fair on a budget, each year there are many days that provide for free admission when the visitor brings items such as books or canned goods.

Christine,  I love the photo!  There is something for everyone at the fair. It's fun to eat all the delicious foods that we try not to eat any other time of year!  The State Fair of Texas takes place in Dallas.  We don't have elephant rides, but we do have corn dogs, Dip n Dots and funnel cakes.  I'm betting you have those, too.

Christine, Great details about the Orange County fair! The North Carolina state fair comes to Raleigh every October and it is a huge turnout. I can imagine folks love attending the fair there. By the photo it looks like the weather is gorgeous!
