You may or may not know Rebecca Gaujot, but she is the leader in West Virginia for ActiveRain. And, when she calls, you should answer.....
Somehow, Ron got so busy, and then so tired, he kept forgetting to call Ms. Gaujot, ace reporter for ActiveRain, back!
Finally, they connected, and Ms. Gaujot got her scoop today! And, the story could not have been nicer. Forget all that perception of the press being hard to deal with....she could get anything out of anyone with her great manner, lovely West Virginia patois and some compliments to the intended party to boot.
Please comment on Rebecca's post....she put a lot of time and effort into it, and I am just reminding you to read it!
Thanks in advance.....and there's pictures!
Ringing Ringing Ringing for Ron Marshall
On Tuesday, January 27th I called Ron Marshall to talk to him about his birdhouses and to perhaps purchase one for our Rotary Auction/Fundraiser, a scholarship fund for seniors at East Greenbrier High School. Ron wasn't home so I talked with his better half, Suzanne McLaughlin. I wrote a post Ringing and Singing in the Rain with Suzanne. I tried a few more times and today Ron called me back. I was so happy to hear from Ron.
When Ron started on ActiveRain 2008, he was mainly working in trashouts and lawn care for brokerages and agents. His main focus now has moved to selling birdhouses for closing gifts and for other occasions. Ron also makes potting benches. Spas in the area have purchased the potting benches. For those who like the more rustic type of furniture for patios, gardens and decks Ron makes tables and chairs for outside use made of 2x4 boards.
Ron was telling me about the pitchfork birdhouse he made. A man from California wanted Ron to mail the pitchfork birdhouse to him, but Ron said they couldn't mail it as it was just too cumbersome and could not pack it. The man was somewhat upset, says Ron. I can't imagine trying to pack a pitchfork with a birdhouse on top!
If you follow Ron Marshall you know he is also an antique dealer. He worked 12 years co-managing an antique store.
Seems I am not the only one calling Ron about his birdhouses. Ron says he gets a lot of business from Active Rain members. Susan Haughton purchased two and has them on her mantle in her house. Kathy Streib purchased some to give as gifts. Ron has made a replica of Debbie Laity's Brokerage office, and she gave it to her Broker as a gift. Ron also made a replica of Tammy Lankford's brokerage office.
Endre Barath, Jr., Dick Greenberg, Brenda Mullen, Chris and Dick Dovorany, Roger D. Mucci, Jill Sackler, Joy Daniels and Jason Sardi, have all gotten birdhouses...and those are just the ones Ron and Suzanne can remember off the top of their head. And yes, I am purchasing one as well.
Check out Ron's Rustic Birdhouses website. And, if you are looking for that special gift for any occasion, contact Ron Marshall for a special birdhouse. The one below is Ron and Suzanne's favorite.
