The ActiveRain Community Guidelines
The ActiveRain Community Guidelines. When you have a large group of people who participate in a site on the net, you must have rules. Luckily, the ActiveRain brains have put together a list of dos and don’ts for us to use as a guideline on how we conduct ourselves.
The Community Guidelines covers a wide range of topic from professionalism to Fair Housing to the etiquette of blogging.
Since the site is primarily a real estate site we must be mindful about how we present ourselves in our posts to the public. We must never violate fair housing laws. Period! If you do you may lose your access to the site.
We, in the real estate industry must present ourselves in the best possible way, so we are not compared to used car salesmen, as I have heard a time or two. We must demand respect by being respectful to our public audience as well as to our peers on the site.
We must not denigrate, slander or otherwise make malicious statements about others in our profession or otherwise.
We must not use other’s material without receiving permission to use other’s words or pictures. Do write creative and original material to post on the site. State your opinion, but don’t write something hateful, petty and potentially unlawful. Remember we, members of the community, are not the only people who read our blogs. So does the public. And that is a good thing. We want the public to think highly of us through the words we have written in our posts.
