Start To Think Long Term

Homeowners are more focused on their family’s stability in the long term.  They dream of retiring one day and have a plan to get there.

Remember when you were shopping for houses and you found that one house that was stuck in the 1970’s?  The homes with the avocado green shag carpet, the pink bathtub, and the mustard yellow tiles on the kitchen counters?

You were wondering, “Why didn’t these homeowners upgrade their house in the last 40 years?”  Maybe it is because they did not budget for upgrades up front.  Do not get stuck decades behind and plan ahead for your improvements.  It will keep the value of your home high.  It will put some excitement in your life and keep you from getting bored of your house.

More importantly, it will keep you from feeling as if you have to move to another house just because yours is outdated and you have grown weary of it.

Being able to improve and upgrade your home is one of the huge benefits of owning your own home.

It doesn't seem like people stay in their homes that long anymore. After five or six years they're looking to move on so the decor in the home is mostly still relevant and not so outdated.

Regina in my area not many people stay 'forever' in their homes.  It's more common perhaps in some areas as I hear it said on  TV a lot - this is our forever home. As for me - I like outdated homes as it's a project waiting to be improved upon. It's like bringing a house back to life and making it shine!

Regina - that is so true.  Certainly I have been doing upgrades of my bathrooms from 1988 when the house was built.  Bathrooms and kitchens can become dated.
