Here is a photo of the very beginning of a remodel project on a very old home with major water damage due to an incorrect window install. There was a small "closet" wall which needed removal so we could get to the larger window to replace it.
This room was previously filled to the brim with trash and wet furniture, so it actually looks pretty good now that you can actually see the walls!
The larger window on the right side was designed to be installed vertically, not horizontally. It appears to have leaked for years. You can also see the effects of deferred maintenance to garage roof, outside.
The walls have been removed and work has begun on window replacement and new drywall and insulation to follow.
This project is a good example of what happens when you cut corners to save money by improperly performing repairs which are not up to code.
This house may be ugly now, but her days of ugliness are numbered! Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
