The city of Largo always has so many cool and interesting events happening every month, and February is no different! Throughout this month of love, Largo is hosting a few neat events that I would highly recommend you check out!
This Saturday, February 7 the Largo Central Park Nature Preserve is hosting its third annual Play! Dirty Adventure Run! Peoples of all ages can come test their stamina and agility as they barrel their way through more than 15 obstacles along the nature trail. Adults can participate in either a competitive or a "fun" 3 mile run, and youth ages 13-17 can enjoy a 3K run within their own age division or run with the "big kids" at the adult price! Youth ages 8-12 are also welcome to participate in their own run at a later start time. Don't worry about parking, it's free! And don't worry about the weather either, because this race is scheduled to happen rain or shine! Shower stations will be available at the finish line so you can rince off before heading off to your next adventure. The first finishing male and female in the adult competitive run will each receive a $100 cash prize, and medals will be awarded to top 3 male/female ruunners in each youth category. All participants receive a free race day t-shirt and a goodie bag. If you're thristy after the race is finished (and you will be), run sponsor Barley Mow Brewing Company will be offering craft beer for sale to quench your thrist! If you're not a resident of Largo, you may not be familiar with the city's Movies in the Park event hosted every second Friday of the month. This is a fun opportunity to pack up the picnic blanket and snacks and take the family out to lovely Largo Central Park to enjoy a nice family-friendly movie on the big screen! Added bonus: there's a free family activity one hour before the showing begins at dark. This month's movie is Frozen, a favorite amongst the little ones! While you're there, you can also enjoy the new Farmers Market in the parking lot just north of the movie field from 3-7pm. Concessions are also offered onsite with a variety of choices for everyone. Last but not least, Largo is hosting its 2nd Annual Largo Scavenger Hunt on February 21, 11am to 1pm. Families will travel all around the city with clues in hand and use their phones to gather evidence of their desinations reached, receiving points for each successful stop. The more stops you can make in the alloted time frame, the more points you earn! The first 100 participants get a free t-shirt, there will be food and drinks offered, door prizes, and cash prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!
