Seriously.
I headed to the parking lot after my office meeting yesterday when I saw a happy looking dog walking in my direction. The dog was off leash, so I glanced around to see if the owner was nearby.
The dog belonged to a delightful lady who I learned has an office in the same building as my office. She brings her dog to work with her. She's clearly a dog person as am I, so I hand her this year's calendar, which features my spokesdog Otis.
Her dog is about to 'do its' business' and the nice owner realizes she doesn't have a poop bag. I ask if she needs a bag. She's amazed that might actually have one, but I do have one. It's one of the things I have in the realtor supply kit I keep in my trunk. (I put the bags in they kit in case there's errant dog poop in the front or backyard where I'm hosting open house.)
The lady and I 'clicked', if that's what you call it. She asked me if I was in commercial or residential real estate. Residential. She asked where my farm was and what areas I worked. I answered the questions and she said she'd send me referrals.
Who knows if that'll ever happen and I'm not sure it really matters. The thought was genuinely there and the experience made my day. I like meeting nice people and nice dogs, too.
