Will your Realtor be around tomorrow?

Real Estate Agent AB36113

Will your Realtor be around tomorrow?

I started Active Rain mid year 2014.  I was fortunate in having come to Active Rain via Rain Silverhawk 's invitation and guidance.  She also was there to answer immediate questions.

I was also extremely fortunate to have Debbie Reynolds call me as an Ambassador and openly offer any help I might need along the way.  Debbie also was kind enough to feature me on one of her posts.  A remark she made sticks with me still today and makes me wonder "Will your Realtor® be around tomorrow?

Debbie stated something to the affect of "he has staying power and will be here for a while".  I thought this an odd statement to make at the time.  I since have realized why she might make such a statement.  In my some what short stay in Active Rain I have seen MANY come out of the blocks like thoroughbreds at a race track, only to blog maybe 4 or 5 posts.  Sometimes less, only never to be seen again.

One was so excited to be in this new and exciting field only to have the last post title read something like "Why is this happening to me?"  We all hope that these people decided AR just not did not fit for them and that they did not drop out of the career field all together.  We also know that most likely more left their chosen field than not.  This is not an easy business to survive in.  Contrary to what many believe.

So it begs the question, "Will your Realtor® be around tomorrow?"  As with any profession... lenders, title companies, doctors, mechanics, dentists, accountants, it is important to know your Realtor® has got the staying power to be there not only during the present transaction, but tomorrow and hopefully the rest of your life.  Not only for you, but your family and friends that may need trusted counsel and guidance with the biggest transaction of their lives.

Good morning Mark. You bring up a great question. It has been nearly 4 years for me, I enjoy being part of this amazing community, unfortunately most don't stick with it in order to build long term relationships.

Mark - You bring up excellent points about AR and real estate in general.  This is important for buyers/sellers to consider if they are using a new agent.

Good for you sticking w/ AR.  It definitely is a marathon, not a sprint.  I have been here for 4 1/2 years.  I think I saw my 1st lead (from a local agent) after 2-3 months.  It wasn't until 6 months when I started to see them consistently.

Mark Don McInnes will be around!!!!

This IS a tough business to get started in, and often the realities of what it takes do drive a large percentage of new agents out of the business.

Kat Palmiotti I wish there was some type of further education required that could help agents with the business side before getting their license.

Steve Kantor longevity in the business does not seem to guarantee success.

Debbie Gartner I still have yet to get a lead from AR.  Can be discouraging.  I went to Katerina for SEO classes and advice.  I doubt I will be leaving AR.  It would be nice to see some $$ results of a lot of work.     I do agree that it is not a sprint and settled in for the long haul early on.

Mark: I've been here and blogged for quite a while. Got super busy and blogged almost not at all. I've got a bit of a second wind as of late. Nice to meet you and, judging by your sweatshirt, I'm guessing you've had a pretty good week.

That's another great reason to have a "current" or relatively current blog post up EVERY where you blog.  If someone happens to click on a place and you haven't written a post since 2011 they are likely to assume (correctly or not) that you are no longer in the business.

Chuck Willman I was happy to see a great hard fought game.  A lot of people were going to be disappointed either way.  Pretty impressive what Carrol has done with Seahawks in such a short time.  Makes me wonder why coaches do not get paid more.  Make it a great weekend.  Mark

Tammy Lankford I limit the places I frequent just for that reason.  In joining AR I have felt a real time squeeze.  So not too much else new being added.  Enjoy your weekend.  Mark
