Good morning everyone-As some of you know I deal with widespread ongoing chronic pain and have for many years. While I have had regular chiropractic care for at least 20 yrs I didn't have regular massage until 4 yrs ago.
I started going to a lady named Beulah who owns and operates Rustburg Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I have learned so much from her.
She also has helped me tremendously from headaches, low back pain, neck pain, etc. Massages for many people are considered a luxury and feel good. What I have come to learn over the past 4 yrs and the difference it has made in my life that for me it isn't a luxury but a necessity. Unfortunately with chronic pain a massage isn't always a pleasant experience many days. There are many tender areas and they cause extreme pain when she massages them. I jokingly tell her that I pay for this torture.
Without it though my life wouldn't be good at all. I suffered for many years without it and had no idea how much better you can feel. I have learned more about the different muscles and what they do than I would have ever imagined.
Yesterday I had my latest massage. I get them every 2 weeks. For whatever reason every since the broken toe incident back in December I have experienced increased and intense pain in my lower back, legs and feet It has been a struggle and not a fun one.
Before that happened the massage had brought me to the point where I was able to do much more with significantly less pain. So needless to say I am frustrated and discouraged and feel like I am back at square one but I am determined to get back to where I was at least.
One of the things that I had noticed when working around the house is I seemed to be bent over and couldn't stand properly while working which would definitely increase the back pain. When I mentioned that to Beulah she told me about the pelvic muscle that controls you standing properly. The muscle gets tight and shortens and causes you to not stand correctly.
So yesterday she works on that VERY painful tender muscle on both sides. Needless to say it was an intensely painful session but I know it will help. She gave me stretches to do for it as well as to work on loosening it myself.
So today I am thankful for the ability to get these therapeutic massages every two weeks and thankful for Beulah who I have learned so much from. As the saying goes: Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I plan on being around good Lord willing for many years to come and I want those years to be as pain free as possible. Without your health you have nothing.
