The Calendar Girls - Tickets are on Sale Now!
One of my long-time pals is going to be in the upcoming production of the "Calendar Girls" at the Magenta Theater in downtown Vancouver. Francine Raften is a former broadcaster and often appears on our local Public Broadcasting TV channel during their annual fundraisers. She is also is a stand-up comic, a good one too. And, as an actress, she has appeared on theater stages in Portland, OR for a number of years.
A recent gathering of former Portland radio folks, we had a chance to catch up. It was delightful to learn that she is a big fan of our local Magenta Theater in downtown Vancouver. The Magenta Theater is located in the arts district - home to may fine art galleries, studios, and a variety of performing arts. In fact, Francine will be baring it all in an upcoming production, the "Calendar Girls."
The Calendar Girls - A Calendar for a Cause
It's a great way to kick off Magenta's 2015 season, and tickets have been selling briskly. We have purchased our tickets for opening night on February 13, 2015. No pressure, Francine. If you're not familiar with Calendar Girls, it's based on the true story of a group of women who pose "tastefully nude" for a calendar to raise money for leukemia research. In fact, the theater is currently selling a calendar to raise money for renovations. In the spirit of the Calendar Girls, you can purchase The Ladies of Magenta 2015 calendar for $15.
The Calendar Girls runs from February 13 to March 7, 2015. Nearly all of the nights are close to being sold-out. If you want to catch this delightful production, you'll need to reserve your tickets soon.
As I recently told Francine, I'll be seeing a LOT more of you soon. :)
