With all the belt-tightening going on around the country, I am proud to say I am, and always have been, a tightwad.

Is that a bad thing? I don't think so, especially after visiting many, many foreclosures where the waste left behind was unfathomable.
I love my vocation, but I wouldn't still be standing among the realtors who still call this a full-time position if I hadn't made adjustments starting about three years ago.
One of the best moves I ever made was starting on ActiveRain nearly seven years ago. That is a saving in and of itself.
I regularly shop my own phone services to see if I can get better rates. I never pay for print advertising unless the client reimburses me. I watch the expenditures for any advertising....business cards included….down to the penny.
But, on a personal note, one of my best resources has always been the Tightwad Gazette. I have all of the books and am now subscribing to that (http://www.tightwad.com/) and Pocket Your Dollars which is local, the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Steals and Deals, and Living Social (Check your local issue of that).
Good luck saving your dimes. I just saved $250 a year changing my calling plan....with little to no changes for usage or minutes!
If you have savings tips, please include them in a comment. We can all use a little extra money!
