Find your passion… help a millennial.
My daughter is a Colorado Springs high school senior this year. Love her to pieces. So melancholy about the brief time she has left at home before graduating to a whole new level at Colorado State University, Ft. Collins.
As many of you parents on Active Rain have witnessed, the range and depth of emotions rank right up there with one of life's truly great milestones. Pride beyond compare at her achievements. Thrilled at the opportunities that await her. And, always hopeful that her dreams will be fulfilled.
My husband and I were tasked with writing her yearbook senior tribute. Not long, just a healthy paragraph. Its an opportunity to express your pride and love. Of which, is bountiful. My heart is full and blessed.
Its the pearls of wisdom a parent feels compelled to impart. After reviewing our own career journeys post high school and college graduation, our simple mantra is find your passion.
She's an old soul. With so much integrity that, at 18 yrs. of age, I see a reflection of her father and all that he stands for. Strong work ethic. Uncanny sense of knowing, without hesitation, the right course of action. The ability to see another person’s character or lack thereof.
Pursuing your passion, in this big ole’ world, in this day and age, can be an elusive term when its not always clear how to find it.
Consulting with counselors, college advisors, and talking to other peers seems to be the go-to we hear.
And, be sure to pick a marketable career track. (no pressure)
I’m pretty sure I was never told to find my passion. It found me. All things Home. From selling to buyinghomes, designing to staging homes. I thrive on the creativeness as well as the sincere appreciation of finding the perfect home for my buyers or the gift to help sellers realize their financial goal and move onto life’s next chapter.
We know she’ll eventually figure it out. She’s a smart girl. Liberal arts kid with a level head all the way.
However, I’m curious. Can any of you share, specific advice you’d give to a millennial about finding their passion? Thanks for your help. ;)
