What California City Is Safe and More Affordable Than Most -- Murrieta

We live in Murrieta and I blog about it, so I was looking around the internet to compile some information on safety.  The City of Murrieta points out, Murrieta CA is consistently on the FBI Crime Report's list of 10 safest cities in the whole country.

An interesting list of California cities puts Murrieta at only the 34th safest city in California, but the differing factor making it desirable in terms of safety but lower on the California list of safe cities must be: affordability is not a factor on this California list.  If you look at the top cities on the California list, and then go price the homes, you'll see you'd need at least a million dollar home to gain entry level housing (in my survey of the ones I recognize, Los Altos, Rancho Santa Margarita, Laguna Nigel, Palos Verdes, and so on).  Here is a link to the survey so you can see for yourself (click the pic to link to the full article):

What makes Murrieta, CA, so desirable to so many and must have moved it to the top 10 for the FBI would then be its affordability and hence accessibility to a lot more people.  Murrieta median home prices are about $363,000 as of the date of this blog post (2-2015).

With median home prices in Murrieta around $363,000, you can certainly find a safe home in a safe neighborhood under $500000, under $400000, even under $350000.  It depends on what is on the market.  We've had a Buyer's market in Murrieta since the fall of 2014, so looking now before the spring and summer move season might let you get in at a bit lower pricing even still, if you move fast!
