I was never very good at keeping secrets. Sometimes, you just get so excited that you just have to tell somebody what you're up to!
One of the key concepts we think about a lot is the idea of validation. Basically, if you write a blog, ask a question, answer a question, or partake in other activities on ActiveRain (or any site for that matter), you really want to know that somebody sees it and cares. If you're posting blogs to a black hole, you aren't going to be doing it for very long.
Based on that idea of validation, here is what we are working on for March.
Notifications in the Global Navigation Bar
(Yes, that is the very nerdy official name of this project!)
By adding notifications to the global navigation bar, you will get a little ping on the site any time people engage with content you create. Validation.
The other page this impacts is the My Home page. As part of this project we are cleaning up the filters, layout, and messaging on that page so it is easy for you to see who is interested in what you have to say.
This project definitely isn't for the feint of heart! The details that go into this little drop-down menu and all of the impacts it has on other parts of the site have been surprisingly complex. Luckily, we have an amazing team of developers who can work this kind of magic!
So... there is your sneak peak behind-the-scenes for March. This feature hasn't taken flight yet but we think we are getting pretty darned close to making it work.
