Bette - I agree with Debbie. It is, probably, yes and no. On the one hand if people still live there, they shouldn't make too much sacrifices. But if they can and are willing, then why not?

I would keep mine up, God stays out front and center whether I am selling or not.

Thanks Bet for the reblog. This seller was sensitive to the unrest in the world. I can appreciate his thinking.

We are becoming too politically correct, we need to take a step back and focus on the fact, there is something about similar buyers purchase homes from the people before them...Endre

If we were to sell our home, God would be right out front greeting those entering with a plaque that says "May the home and all therein, be blessed with God's Love." The bibles, prayer books, Crucifixes, and palm crosses, would all stay in place with St. Francis sitting on the hill overlooking the property.
I would never insist a Seller remove their religious belongings, only advise them of the fact if there were multiples of the same item, like with other personal belongings, to reduce the number and keep it simple. I think it's our responsibility to let them know what "may" distract buyers.
Oh, and I wear a very simple, small gold cross, and I never leave home without it.
As a home stager I'm constantly recommending the removal of religious items. Anything that defines who lives in the home should be removed.

Bette,
This was a good re-blog and yes unfortuantely you do have de-personalize your home not everyone has your taste or your beliefs!
I ask sellers to remove as many personal staff as they can( first of all their personal pictures, valuables, and their religious items, if possible).
Bette, I agree - not just religious symbols - many personal items are best stored away so buyers get to see the home and not the stuff in it.
