Radon is, IMO, a far more serious health problem than most home owners/buyers understand.

Radon testing is inexpensive and just may save lives over the years.

The radon test in my area is only about $150.

Very informative Bet. Radon doesn't seem to be a huge concern in my area. Maybe it is because we have city water and not that many basement homes.

I never even knew that radon could get into water.  Thank goodness it seems to be an easily solved problem.

Wow Bette, this is something I don't know much about. There is no Radon in the Chicago area, supposedly because it's near the lake? In all the years I have only had one person do a test and it was negative. They took air samples from the basement. Good topic. 

Bette, Just had a radon test come in extremely high but thank goodness the radon in the water came in very low. We do learn so much as we continue to list and sell houses. Thanks for sharing.

This is very good information for families who use well water.

I don't know if they don't test well water in our area for radon or not.  I have not had any come back saying it was there.  I will ask.

Bette Gottwald  - This is something I'm not familiar with as it isn't something we don't much with. We are almost all on district water;

We do the radon tests because of the civil liability, potential lawsuits, etc.  Better to get a clear letter and be on the safe side.
