Home Insurance Companies Ratings ~ 2014.

Feb. 10, 2015.

By DMK Real Estate, Fairfield County, Ct.

Protect your home; both Consumer Report and J.D.Power came out with separate homeowner insurance reports and ratings in May 2014 and September 2014. The reports are based on responses from home owner and overall satisfaction.

Both reports and ratings have Amica Insurance, USAA, Auto-Owners and Erie in the top ratings. To see how the customer satisfaction index was determined please visit each article.

Bundling your auto and home insurance package together under one insurer can save you up to 15% with some companies. Insurance companies are using more and more now your credit score to help determine rates, the higher your credit score (that is good) the lower rates you could get. Click here for 10 more tips on lowering your homeowners insurance.

Many insurance companies have been increasing their deductibles on severe weather events or all together not providing coverage in certain regions. As well in the past few years homeowners have seen an increase of 5 to 10 percent annually.

If you are at an impasse with your claim you can hire a public adjuster who will negotiate with the insurance company for you usually at around a ten percent fee of your payout. To find a public adjuster go to the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters and click on the link "find an adjuster", look for one with experience, good reviews and your state license if needed.

Many states like Connecticut have Insurance Departments that provide valuable information, links and tips for homeowners. If your state does not then you next best bet is to find an independent local agent who can get you quotes from multiple insurers. To find an independent agent go to Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association.

Bundling packages seems to be a trend.  If you are in the position to use one Insurance company for all your links are very helpful.  Thank you for posting the information.

This is super stuff to chew on and consider. Re-shopping insurance, good idea whether bundled or not to keep the coverage the most for the least.

These are some of the best rating I have personally seen for homeowners insurance. Can't wait to see where the ratings go in the future. Things are really starting to look up since the crash in 2008. http://www.krupainsurance.com/products.aspx

Yay State Farm! It definitely helps you save money by having multiple lines with the same insurance company. I get a lot of people that want to diversify their insurance companies out of fear. If you make sure that you go with a top teir insuarnace company (like State Farm) you don't need to worry. I've saved people thousands by bundling their home & auto insurance.
