KATHY'S KITCHEN COOKBOOK

kathyskitchenI am seriously considering writing and publishing a cookbook to share my recipes and my love of good food.  Many of you have been supportive and have shared my recipe blogs that I have posted here.

Kathy's Kitchen - Created with Haiku Deck, presentation software that inspires

Right now I am exploring publishing options and layouts, but I'm thinking a price of around $24.99.

I would love to hear in your comment what recipes you would like to see, and if it something you would be interested in reading, using or gifting.

Thanks to all of my ActiveRain fans, Facebook fans and good friends from all places!

Hi Kathy -- I saw your post on facebook earlier today and at first glance it certainly has a lot of visual appeal.    I have limited interest in cookbooks as I'm not much of cook(I have just two in my kitchen) but the price seems reasonable and self-publishing is relatively simple.

You obviously have a tremendous talent in many arenas so I suggest you try it.

As the queen of buying cookbooks that sit on a shelf in a kitchen cabinet, LOL, I would love to see a cookbook of recipes that are not complicated or intimidating, but produce beautiful, elegant food for those of us who would love to put on a beautiful spread but don't have the time or natural inclination to do so.  I think that would be hugely popular and something I would love to give as a closing gift in a basket full of ingredients for one of the dishes.

Kathy Schowe - I love cookbooks, and I'd suggest for a hard copy, you should try and target $9.99/book based upon what I see at Costco, or bookstore in the sell-it-quick area.  Unless your book has a special hook (like your own TV show, but specific to an area also sells), it's hard to get the higher prices these days.

As a suggestions, each recipe needs to have it's own picture, - love multiple photos.

Second suggestion, you need to have recipes that can be made with out meat, chicken, or fish.  If you can substitute something else in for that item, you'll have more appeal and a reason to buy.  Knowing the calories, fat, sugar, and event points (yes I know that's a private program), but knowing, the full fare, and then a low-cal, or non-meat version will appeal to more book buyers.  Just a few suggestions on what I look for when browsing at the book pile - trying to meet a lot of dietary needs at our home, so books that offer those variations is top on my list these days and I will pay top dollar for them.

You have a lot of great recipes, ideas, and your photography is really good, so I think your book will sell - go get them!
