How will You be Remembered?

By

I watched a YouTube video interview of one of my favorite musicians, Ed Sheeran, and I was intrigued by his incredibly kind and humble demeanor.  When asked about the origin of his good nature, he responded, "I have good parents."

A lovely answer, and one that caused me to reflect upon life in general.  Recently, our Southern Oregon real estate community lost another beloved soul.  It's no surprise that Realtor Jolie Johnson's sudden and unexpected death has generated an outpouring of love on Facebook.

I was touched by a common thread of adjectives used to describe her... "she was kind, loving, and a gentle spirit."  Her colleague's admiration for her speaks volumes to a life well lived.  It's obvious that love emanated from her veins.

When it comes right down to it, and the final curtain is drawn, no one cares about the awards you earned, the titles you achieved, or the number of units you sold.  What they remember most is how you made them feel.

I agree with you. Last year I recieved the REALTOR® of the year award for Oklahoma. What I said as a fumbled my shocked acceptance is that in 20 years I will be a picture on a wall that no one remembers but what i do now that is in the right for the right reasons can have a tremendous effect if even one person is motivated to also do the right thing.

Mel- you are so right about this.  In the end, people won't remember the number of houses we staged or sold, or the rewards on the wall.  But they will remember the kind word you gave them when they most needed it.

I think about that very thing a lot Melinda (Mel) Peterson ! As I go through life it has become my #1 navigation tool... I am so sorry to hear about Jolie. I hadn't heard, but do remember meeting her when I came to Southern Oregon for work back in 2003 - 2009... So true, people remember how you made them feel.

This gives me a great idea! Thanks Endre Barath, Jr.  and Melinda (Mel) Peterson ... When I worked for Brand X I used to come to Southern Oregon a lot back in 2003 - 2009... I'd love to come down and see so many of the friends I met. Mel, we met back in 2007, 8, 9... I remember the event but not exactly what year that was... I'll talk to my peers and see if I can put a tour together. I loved coming down to Roseburg, Grants Pass, Tillamook, Bandon, Medford, and Ashland. It would be so cool to hook up in person again! AND, I'll buy the coffee! :O)
