Are You Looking For a Deal? Or a Home to Live In? Homes for Sale Vancouver Wa
I seem to have this conversation with my buyer clients at least once a week. They start out with a clear picture of the home that they want to raise their family in and then the get lost in the rabbit hole of chasing the best “deal.”
Don’t get me wrong. There are some great deals out there and I am very good at finding them. There are trade offs and every buyers should be aware of what they might be.
We have all heard the old adage, “You get what you pay for.” This holds true for watches, cars, and, yes, it holds true for homes too. Whether it be location, size, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, or if the neighborhood allows chicken coups*, there is almost always a sacrifice that has to be made to take advantage of the deal. The challenge is which sacrifices are you willing to make?
My experience has shown me that the buyers who pass on the deal and stay true to the home that they really want are the happiest in the long run. They had a clear vision of where they wanted to live and they resisted the urge to chase down the so called “deals. They ended up in homes that they loved. They were happy to come back to their homes each day. They were proud to invite friends over for get togethers. They realized that deals were fine for some folks but their quality of life was much more important to them.
* I recently had a family pass on the home of their dreams because the HOA wouldn’t allow their pet chicken to live there. True story!
