Extraordinary Gaithersburg: Sherman Ealy
This announcement was published by the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland:
Sherman Ealy has been a crossing guard with the Montgomery County Police Department for 25 years. All but one of those years has seen him dutifully manning the crosswalks and streets in front of Gaithersburg Elementary School, ensuring safety for thousands of youngsters, many of whom are now grown and have children of their own. Sherman's attentive services have also helped students at St. Martin of Tours, Summit Hall, Brown Station, Ronald McNair and Dufief Elementary Schools. When asked what he likes most about his job, Sherman replied, "The children's smiles are what get me through my day." He will be recognized with a proclamation at an upcoming Mayor and City Council meeting.
