3 QUICK Tips on How to Get Out of a RUT

By
Education & Training with John Helmick Success & Ohio Property Inspection Services

Three quick actions you can take to get out of a rut.

Successful people have GREAT habits that they do everyday.  Sometimes we get lazy and need to change.  Here are three ideas to help propel you back on a successful road:

  1. WHY - why do you want to change?  (If you don't know your "why" - if it is not strong enough - your change(s) won't last.  You have to want to change bad enough - the pain of not changing has to be great enough to make you want to move out.)
  2. WHAT - what are you going to change?  (If you can JUST focus on ONE thing at a time your chances of succes are MUCH greater!)  Write down your top 3 things you want to change and then work on the EASIEST one first - that way you can create some success and momentum.
  3. HOW - get in your mind the route you are going to take.  WRITE it down.  KEEP it in front of you.  GO for it!

I love to hear your stories....

John, you are right about deciding what you want to change has to be the first step.  Otherwise we are just running here and there 'willy nilly'.

My change this year is to get my email under control. I have worked on it for the last 30 days every day and I am seeing results.  Unsubscribing and responding immediately is working well for me.  The result is I am staying on task and have more free time at the end of the day.

John - Your first point is primary.  The WHY is more important than the how.  You have made a great post.  Congratulations.

Hi John.  I've been seeing your picture when I go to comment on other blogs and it was love at first sight (WITH YOUR DOG).  I am a big golden fan and have two boys who keep me company.  Adorable.

John, I find that in writing things down it is easier to implement them.

Belinda Spillman - Haha!  Yes...we love Goldens!  The one I have in my arms is Chaka (as in Chaka Khan!) and she is 4 mos old.  We foster service dogs as pups so we will get to keep her until she is about 10-11 mos old, then she goes and gets her in depth training for whatever service they are going to put her in.  Our first dog just graduated last Friday and he is with a 13 year old autistic boy from Rhode Island.  We got to meet his mom and him and it is such a heartwarming thing to see the bond between boy and dog!  Beautiful!  (HARD to give up the puppy - but when you see what they are going to mean in a person's life it makes it all worthwhile!)  THERE is a chance, however, that they may use Chaka to breeed as she is such a sweetie...they usually have them spayed by now and they are holding off on her - if they decide to do that, we could keep her as our actual dog.  She will be bred 3 times and she would be gone for about 3 mos, but after her third litter, she would be our dog...so we are keeping our fingers crossed!

Belinda Spillman - we have a Golden of our own and then we have an English Bulldog (she is almost 11, though and I almost thought I was going to have to put her down earlier this week...but she is doing much better now).

btw...one of my best friends lives in Littleton!

Yes - writing things down really works for me, Silvia Dukes PA, REALTOR!  btw...I am leaving for Orlando in the morning - will be finalizing my coaching certification through the John Maxwell Team next week!  I am leaving sub-zero temps and 5 inches of snow - so keep the sun out for me!
