It should be clear to all that the numbers in THE ABOVE TITLE represent HOURS IN A DAY, DAYS IN A WEEK, HOURS AT SUNDAY MASS, and HOURS IN A WEEK...
Putting it more simply...We often hear companies or groups, eager to impress the outside world, tout the fact that they are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week...in other words...ALL THE TIME...!!!
Some businesses or organizations claim to be available EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR (some with the exception of CHRISTMAS)...
The focus of this post, however, is the amount of ‘GOD TIME’ we spend each week...!!!
If we are content, and now I’m speaking as a Catholic, with going to Sunday Mass as fulfilling our obligation to Our Creator, we miss the point completely...
What our Creator desires of us is RELATIONSHIP...PURE AND SIMPLE...Moreover, Just as we need food to keep our fleshly bodies healthy, so we need SPIRITUAL FOOD to keep our souls, minds, and relationships healthy...
And 1 hour or so a week is JUST NOT ENOUGH to sustain RELATIONSHIP...!!!
Scripture reminds us to ‘PRAY WITHOUT CEASING’.......Does that mean 24/7...I think not...BUT...
We need to make our entire lives A PRAYER... by keeping OUR LORD at the CENTER OF OUR LIVES...It may seem a daunting task, and I certainly don’t mean to imply that I’ve mastered it, but a CONSISTENT PRAYER LIFE, SPENDING SOME QUIET TIME WITH THE LORD EACH DAY, AVOIDING NEAR OCCASIONS OF SIN, ALMSGIVING, FASTING, SELF SACRIFICE, and other SPIRITUAL HELPS certainly assist us in DRAWING CLOSER TO GOD AND BUILDING A SOLID RELATIONSHIP...AND...
What better time to work on this than THE SEASON OF LENT...!!!
