Laughter is indeed the best medicine

Industry Observer

I was reading Alan Kirkpatrick’s blog the other day when he was saying not to take life too seriously and have fun and laugh. It reminded me of a time when I was very sick I thought I had the flu (so much for self-diagnosis) but it was actually bronchitis. My youngest son Alex was also sick with bronchitis I was out a week, my son and I, were home together and let me tell you that thing really knocked me out. One of the days my son and I were talking on the phone to grandma and grandpa, and then I was going to bed, I was just tired and spent. My son wanted to play a game all I wanted to do was go to bed and sleep; his big brown eyes looked at me and I just could not say no, so we played the game it was a sailing trivia game, we had so much fun and laughed and laughed for about 3 hours, by the time we had finished playing I honestly felt better than I had in days, so we watched a movie after that. I think it was at that moment that I truly knew the saying “laughter is the best medicine” Thank you Alan Kirkpatrick, for taking me back to that day it was a great day in spite of being sick!

Yolanda - Those who can make your laugh, especially if they are your loved ones, are precious indeed.

Love your story, Yolanda.  If you can't laugh and enjoy life, it's not worth living.

Laughter is truly healing.  Try staying mad at someone when you both burst into laughter about something -- it's truly impossible.

Those small little moments in life are the most important. You'll look back and not remember that stressful day you had three months ago, but you'll remember that game night with Alex.

I had to look at the picture twice, Yolanda.  At first glance, I thought Alex, could be my grandson, John Luis.  They could be twins!

Myrl Jeffcoat Then John Luis must be a good looking young man, but then he has you as his grandma so it's in the genes. Is that the one that you went on a trip with?

No, I went on the trip with my grandson, Ryan, who is my youngest daughter's boy.  John Luis is my son's boy.  Here's a picture of him.
