The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (GDYO) Jazz Ensemble will perform at the popular Balcony Club Sunday afternoon. During the Free two hour performance, the audience will be entertained by Six Jazz Combos.
Launched last fall at the University of North Texas, The Jazz Institute was created to serve more than 50 high school musicians. Students have the opportunity to study and interact with professional jazz musicians and take music related classes. There are three levels of instruction in this program and each level is divided into three combos. Included in program are scheduled performances. Sunday, six combos will be performing at the Balcony Club. I'm betting that many Dallas area jazz musicians will be present to support these talented students. The North Texas jazz community is a close knit group of people who support each other and love to share their music.
