Yes, this is a great idea for real estate agents and mortgage brokers.  They really should also talk about the tax benefits of owning a home as it may motivate more 1st time homebuyers.

This is a good idea up to a certain point. However, we as agents (at least in North Carolina) have to be very, very careful about any tax, leggal, financial, mechanical, structural, etc. advice we give out. We are not licensed tax practitioners and open ourselves up to law suits and fines that might not be covered by E&O insurance if someone takes our advice about something we are not licensed to do. This post should have had some disclaimer to always consult your tax advisor on these matters to protect the agent.

Nina Hollander everybody should always abide by the laws.  That's most important in the field of real estate.  If your laws keep you from writing about this subject, I suggest you don't of course.

I feel the general public as home owners and investors don't fully understand how taxes can be a friend. As always connect with a qualified CPA to assist in any tax related issue. This is a hot issue in my circles this time of year.
