Due to inclement weather, the Open House has been postponed to next Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

The City of Sandy Springs will host a public Open House on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 to update the community on the progress of City Center development as well as to gather input on visual aesthetics throughout the downtown development.

“The heartbeat of a city is its downtown. It’s important to reach back into the community to gather feedback as we approach milestones within the project to keep in tune with the community’s thoughts, ” said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.

The Open House will take place beginning at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall located at 7840 Roswell Road, Building 500, Sandy Springs, GA 30350.

A formal presentation will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. to provide an update on activities related to the overall City Center project. From 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., residents will participate in visual preference surveys designated by City Center components: City Green, Performing Arts Center and City Hall Offices, and Retail/Residential areas that are part of the private development component of the project. The City will publish an online survey (www.sandyspringscitycenter.com) beginning Feb. 26th, to take in feedback from those not able to attend the Open House.

“We know that design is driven by personal preferences and personalities. Design for City Center should reflect and reinforce the concept of City Center as a shared place of community for the city as a whole. Through the collection of this input, we’ll be able to extrapolate commonalities to help us accomplish that goal,” added Paul.

Goals for the City Center project include the creation of a unique, vibrant, walkable City Center, which incorporates mixed-use development introducing new dining, high-end residential living, and amenity retail and entertainment options.  The project also will create an appropriate setting for a new civic / cultural center that will contain multiple uses such as city offices, meeting space and a performing arts facility. In addition, the City block will encompass a green space network to accommodate a variety of activities.
