How Long Can the Blame Game Go On?

For how long can the blame game go on?

There is no shortage of things that don't go as planned. Service providers miss appointments, airlines and trains overbook, and keys are removed from lock boxes. Someone drops the ball and an innocent takes the arrow for the misstep. In business I was taught to not shift the blame, even if the fault for the miss was not mine. A client does not really care who screwed up, just fix the problem.

So that's what I try to do.

In politics, there is a different set of guidelines. Humorous evidence is shown below from an opinion blog. Although this is from a blog, one hears statements from the administration taking this tact whenever a problem is discussed.

blame game

I guess President Bush has almost two more years of being blamed for national problems.

As long as there are people I guess, that's how long the blame game can go on.

Wayne, that is such a great point that a client does not want finger pointing or excuses when a major problem arises.

A good real estate professional tries to anticipate the challenges ahead, provide plenty of communications to make sure things are progressing on the other end of the contract, and have a plan when Mr. Murphy decides to show up.

You are correct Wayne, finding blame does little good, best to just get on with finding a solution.

I don't blame others. If they repeat the same mistake again and again, I simply try to cut them off. I'm very focused and don't want to waste any of my energy on negative emotions.

Good morning Wayne. You are so right about blame. We are all tired of it, no different with what is going on in Washington right now.

Some people just have to blame somebody, because it makes them feel better. Turkeys!

Hi Wayne,

OMG...this is so cute. Blaming others is never the right tactic..taking control and fixing the problem takes a real leader.

Wayne,  It is so true.  The blame game is completely out of control especially with our politicians.

Hello Wayne,

So funny and so true...it's a shame that those in Washington can't admit what's wrong and fix it rather than passing the blame.

Blaming others or events does not really help at all, and in circumstances, really they are what they are. It is how we choose to deal with those circumstances that speaks to characters.

Those who take credit for their missteps and know how to say, "I'm sorry, I was wrong" seem to be fewer and farther between these days.  And, I can say that those are words I've not heard come out of a politicians mouth...ever, that I can remember!  I say that jokingly but, it's really sad.  Like you, I'm tired of the blame game!

Well, blame or not blame, you can not forget facts and consequences of the actions. His legacy is no good.
