Whew, I'm just under the wire on this one. Here is my entry into Roger Mucci's Fourth Annual "Be the Star of your Own Movie," contest. Naturally, I chose the Best Movie category and here is my original video "The Story of Us." ( If I'd done anything other than a video, you all would NEVER have let me forget it. ) :)
The Story of Us!
This is the “Story of Us,” a remake of the 1999 Rob Reiner movie starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Bruce Willis. Although, our story isn’t just about the two of us. It’s about the four of us - my husband and me, and my parents who live next door.
Like the movie, our lives are filled with moments that are comedic, bittersweet and at times, romantic. However, after nearly 12 years of marriage for us, and more than 65 for my parents, our relationships are strong. The screen play marriage has more conflict, but the couple finally realizes what we know. Ordinary moments, memories, and history are often the glue that binds us.
Back to our "Story of Us" movie.
A rock path winds its way from our back door to my parents' back door. Needless to say, we travel that rock path with a high degree of frequency. Mornings, to let the elderly pug spend the day with my parents - they enjoy each other’s company.
There are many trips on that path devoted entirely to dogs - especially one dog, our white Golden Retriever named, Mac. Mom and dad enjoy watching him go by throughout the day, especially when he pops by for a visit. We also drop by for quick visits - and to share family news. Evenings, we take them dinner.
The path of caring and sharing goes both ways. Mom and Dad help us out too. They walk Mac when we’re busy, water our plants and pick up our mail when we’re gone. They also bring us baked goods, or other treats.
We’ve found it’s more fun to share chores such as weeding, putting up Christmas lights, and washing windows with a support group. We each have our role, and it works well for us. We’ve discovered this lifestyle has enriched our lives. It’s no secret, the best part about sharing your life and your love - the more you give, the more you get.
By the way, we’re also REALTORS®. We specialize in multi-generational housing solutions and work with baby boomers and seniors. Our first hand experience gives our clients an extra level of customer service, plus we understand the emotional aspect of merging generations and family members. We're pleased to add this video to our YouTube Library and hope others who need this type of guidance will find us.
Thank you Roger, and all the fabulous judges, for your hard work! Grab some popcorn, and I hope you enjoy the movie. See you on the Red Carpet soon. This year, I'm bringing my man. ;)
